Hannah Zitner Reports
Annie Qulee is a Liberian living in Budubum refugee camp. The camp, located just outside of Accra, is home to roughly 3500 refugees. She supports her three boys on the $2/day she earns selling potato greens at the camp’s market. The 43-year-old fled Monrovia in 1996 after loosing most of her family and friends during Liberia’s first civil war and has since been living at Buduburam. Although there was a volunteer repatriation back to Liberia this fall, Annie stayed in Ghana. She says the $5 given to refugees for leaving, would not be enough to support herself and her boys while they try and establish new lives.
